Stations described
10 stations on the day- •Manual dexterity task
On the day
In person at the Heath Park dental school for Home applicants, in mid to late January; only overseas applicants interview online (Microsoft Teams, after an identity check).
Expect a hands-on dexterity task (origami, carving or tweezers) marked on attention to detail while you keep up a conversation; a poor result there cannot sink you on its own.
Your conduct across the whole day is scored as Suitability for the Profession and can cost you an offer, so treat actors, staff and other candidates as you would patients.
Most stations map to the GDC's expected attributes rather than dental knowledge; applicants describe stations that feel unrelated to dentistry, so prepare values and reasoning.
You can sit the MMI in Welsh or bilingually and switch at any point without penalty; ask for a slot once invited, as they are limited.
You can make notes while reading.
1 min to move between stations.
Offers go to the highest interview scores within each applicant group (Welsh-domiciled, Rest of UK, contextual, Overseas), but a separate Suitability for the Profession score can block an offer however well the stations went. UCAT separates equal scores. Roughly 280 to 300 are interviewed for about 100 offers; decisions come within about five weeks, in batches, and written MMI feedback can be requested.
