On the day
One online panel, not an MMI, in January and February. 2025 entry invites said 20 minutes plus an ID check, joining the call 15 minutes early.
The panel (two senior staff, a dental student, sometimes a lay selector) has your UCAS form and can ask about your personal statement, which is not itself scored.
An article arrives two weeks before and fills the first half (about 10 minutes); the second half is standard questions. Basic dental knowledge (what caries and gum disease are, common treatments) was enough for 2025 entry applicants.
No dexterity task: manual dexterity is read from your personal statement, and Barts students suggest having a craft to talk about. Expect 'why Barts' and know the school's outreach clinics.
2025 entry applicants found the panel more clipped than Barts' relaxed reputation: straight faces, some called it 'an interrogation', and one was cut off after almost every question.
Three outcomes (offer, rejection, waiting list), communicated in March once all interviews are done. The policy allows interview score, SJT band, UCAS tariff and UCAT to count after interview; panel members describe domain scores tallied and ranked. International applicants are ranked separately. Offers arrive in batches by UCAS email, with others held and later waitlisted.
