A-Levels
- General Studies and Critical Thinking aren't accepted.1
GCSE
UCAT
- No SJT band rule is published.
Age
- You must be 18 by 1 October of your entry year - younger applicants can apply for deferred entry.2
Resits & reapplying
- One resit per A-Level and per GCSE (more needs mitigating circumstances); A-Levels are expected in a single sitting. Declare every resit - the better grade counts.1
- You must have been in education within the last 5 years.3
- One reapplication is considered - more needs exceptional circumstances.2
- Transfers aren't considered.3
How Leeds selects for interview
Selection & shortlisting
- All applicants who meet the minimum requirements are ranked on one score from three parts: UCAT total (~50%), best 8 GCSEs (~35%) and best three A-Levels (~15%), achieved or predicted, A-Levels capped at AAA. Leeds doesn't disclose the weightings; the percentages are our estimates.4
- No cutoff is published. In 2026 the lowest UCAT shortlisted among UK applicants was 1720.4
- Your personal statement must be about dentistry - motivation for medicine or nursing means rejection. Apply to one School of Dentistry course only.1
- Mitigating circumstances must be in your personal statement and academic reference when you apply - they can't be added later.1
