A-Levels
GCSE
- You need six GCSEs at grade 6/B including Maths, English Language and two sciences or Double Science.1
- Triple, Double, Additional and Further Science GCSEs are all accepted; extra single sciences don't count on top.1
- Graduates need six GCSEs at grade 5/B including English Language, Maths and two sciences or Double Science.1
UCAT
- No SJT band is auto-rejected - your SJT score simply counts inside the interview score.1
Age
- You must be 18 by the course start date - younger applicants aren't considered.1
Resits & reapplying
- The qualifications you apply with must have been completed within the past five years.1
- Resits only if you got ABB/AAC first time - then at least one A* in the resat subjects, one resit only. A-Levels over 2 consecutive years.1
- If you don't yet meet the GCSE requirement, you must be resitting the GCSEs and predicted the required grade.1
- Two consecutive applications maximum.1
- If you've previously studied or are currently studying Dental Surgery (UK or overseas), you won't be considered.1
- Transfers from other dental schools aren't accepted.1

- Deferred entry is not permitted.1
- A gap year is fine - explain it in your personal statement.1
- Newly qualified dentists are expected to have to work in the NHS for a minimum period - planned for students starting from 2027/28.1
Conditional offer
- Conditional offer: AAA including Biology/Human Biology or Chemistry. A fourth A-Level or EPQ isn't required and carries no grade requirement.1
