Entry requirements

A-Levels

  • You must be taking Chemistry plus one of Biology, Physics, Maths or Further Maths, predicted AAA. Biology can't pair with Zoology or Botany.1
  • The Chemistry A-Level and GCSE Maths/English requirements are never waived - if your achieved grades miss them, you must be resitting (or taking another suitable qualification).2

GCSE

  • You need at least grade 7 (A) in GCSE Maths and grade 4 (C) in GCSE English.1

UCAT

  • Your SJT band isn't used - no band leads to rejection.1

Resits & reapplying

  • Resits are permitted, with no cap on attempts.2
  • Mature applicants must show evidence of study and examinations within the last 5 years.2
  • Reapplying is fine - earlier interview performance isn't considered.2
  • Transfers aren't accepted.2
  • A previous required withdrawal from a dental course elsewhere may block your place - decided case-by-case.2
How Bristol selects for interview

  • The 2026 Home threshold was 2340 - our estimate for next cycle is ~2350.1
  • Home and international applicants are ranked separately, with fixed interview quotas for each.
  • Work experience isn't required or scored - Bristol suggests around two weeks, and you may be asked to reflect on it at interview.1
  • The personal statement and reference aren't scored - the statement is only read to split UCAT ties at the offer stage.2
