A-Levels
- Further Maths can't be your third A-Level if Maths is one of the two required subjects.1
- You must be taking Biology or Chemistry plus a second from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths or Psychology, both at grade A. Further Maths can't be your third if Maths is one of the two.1
- You must pass the practical endorsement in all Science A-Levels (private candidates exempt).1

- SJT Band 4 is not accepted. Band 3 isn't rejected but scores 0 of the 10 SJT points in the pre-interview ranking.1

- You must be 18 by 1 January of your first year.1
How KCL selects for interview
Selection & shortlisting
- KCL ranks you for interview on a single score out of 170, built from four parts:
- UCAT - up to 100 points. Your percentile within KCL's applicant pool (100 = top).
- SJT - up to 10 points. Band 1 = 10, Band 2 = 5, Band 3 = 0 (Band 4 is not accepted).
- GCSEs - up to 40 points. Counted by A*s (grade 8 or 9, any subject): fewer than five A*s = 0 points, then 10/20/30/40 points for 5/6/7/8+.
- Widening participation - up to 20 points. For applicants meeting KCL's WP criteria; KCL doesn't disclose how the 20 points split; our model follows its own tiers, weighting its strongest markers (K+, free school meals, care experience, estrangement) at the full 20, the additional-consideration markers lower, and postcode measures lower again.
- A-Levels earn no points - they're an eligibility gate only. The personal statement, reference and predicted grades are reviewed before interview invitations are finalised, but never scored.1
- The threshold depends on each year's applicants - our estimate is that 120 out of 170 gives a realistic chance of an interview.

- Online panel interview (two interviewers), December to March - assessing communication, social and ethical issues, and suitability for dentistry.1
- Decisions are released by May, once all interviews finish. In 2024 the lowest Home interview score offered was 76% (interviewee average 74%).1
- Deferred entry: Home applicants with extenuating circumstances, case-by-case; Overseas fee-payers can't defer.1
- KCL expects work experience in a caring or clinical setting - public-facing work (pharmacy, retail, restaurant) counts if that's not possible.1
Conditional offer
- Conditional offer: A*AA - including grade A in Biology or Chemistry plus grade A in a second subject from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths or Psychology. The EPQ isn't considered.1
