A-Levels
- You must be taking Biology or Human Biology and Chemistry, plus a third A-Level - General Studies doesn't count.1
GCSE
- As an A-Level applicant you need 6 GCSEs at A/7, including Maths or Physics, and English Language or Literature (B/6 accepted if six other GCSEs are at A/7).2
UCAT
- Your SJT band isn't used - no band is auto-rejected.3
Resits & reapplying
- Resits aren't accepted - every qualification must be done in one sitting. If you have extenuating circumstances, email the admissions team before the 15 October deadline.1
- Your qualifications must be no more than 6 years old - if they're older, apply through an approved Access course.1
- Reapplying is fine - resit the UCAT; a past interview doesn't count against you.4
- Transfers aren't considered, nor restarting first year - current degree students apply in their final year only.4
Selection & shortlisting
- All applicants who meet the minimum requirements are ranked purely by total UCAT score - around 200 are invited to interview each year.3
- Home (Scottish), rest-of-UK and international applicants face separate UCAT thresholds.5
- In 2025 the lowest UCAT considered for a rest-of-UK interview was 2080 (converted to the 2700 scale).5
- Home (Scottish) widening-participation applicants get a 10% reduction on the required UCAT score.
- The personal statement and reference aren't scored - but a statement with no clear interest in dentistry can mean rejection.

- Work experience isn't essential - alternative shadowing or volunteering that shows caring for and interacting with people counts.2
- Decisions arrive on UCAS by the end of March.4

- Conditional offer: AAA in three different subjects by the end of Year 13, with Biology/Human Biology and Chemistry at A.2
