- You must sit the UCAT in your application year. There's no UCAT cutoff - your score feeds the academic ranking.2
- Leeds doesn't disclose how it uses the SJT - it withholds all UCAT scoring detail (upheld by the ICO), so no band rule can be confirmed.

- You must be 18 by 1 October of your entry year - younger applicants can apply for deferred entry.3
Resits & reapplying
- One resit attempt per A-Level and per GCSE is accepted; a third attempt needs evidence of mitigating circumstances.1
- You must show evidence of full-time education within the last 5 years.1
- One GCSE resit per subject is accepted without mitigating circumstances; a third attempt needs evidenced mitigation.1
- Reapplication is allowed - within the same cycle only at the Admissions team's discretion, and a previous offer doesn't guarantee a new one.3
- You're not considered if you've previously studied medicine.
- Transfers into Year 1 from any other course - at Leeds or elsewhere - are not considered.4
How Leeds selects for interview
Selection & shortlisting
- Leeds ranks you for interview on one score out of 100: UCAT total (40 points), GCSEs (40 points) - English Language, Maths and Dual Science (or Biology and Chemistry) plus your four best others - your top three Level 3 grades (10 points), achieved or predicted, and contextual factors (10 points). The A-Level element is capped at AAA - an A* earns nothing extra, and widening-participation applicants hit the cap at ABB.2
- Home and international cohorts are ranked separately. Contextual applicants get an undisclosed uplift within the home pool - not a separate pool.
- Leeds doesn't disclose the cut-off - shortlisting is on the combined academic score and the bar moves each year. The lowest UCAT among shortlisted Home applicants in 2026 was 1900.2
- You earn extra shortlisting points by meeting one or more of four factors: living in a low-participation area, receiving the UCAT bursary, attending a school below the national average Attainment 8 score at GCSE, or completing Leeds Futures: Medicine or Reach for Excellence.1
