Selection · how they rank for interview

UCLan ranks home applicants purely by UCAT total once the academic requirements are met. International applicants aren't ranked by UCAT - meeting the entry requirements is what matters.

Entry requirements

A-Levels

  • You must be taking two sciences including Chemistry. Predicted grades are checked as a pass/fail gate for interview selection - they aren't scored.1

GCSE

  • You need at least grade 5/B in GCSE Maths and English.1

UCAT

  • You must sit the UCAT in your application year (home applicants only). There's no fixed cutoff - the threshold is set by each year's applicant pool.2
  • No SJT band leads to automatic rejection.

Resits & reapplying

  • A-Levels must be taken in one sitting. Resits are accepted - one attempt per subject, all sat in the same exam period.1
  • If unsuccessful, you may make one further consecutive reapplication to the MBBS programme.2
How UCLan selects for interview
