How UCLan selects for interview
Selection & shortlisting
- All home applicants who meet the requirements are ranked by their raw UCAT total - no academic scoring, and the personal statement isn't scored.
- The 2025 thresholds were 1800 for Home and 1630 for contextual applicants (converted to the 2700-scale UCAT) - our estimate is you'd need around 1840 next cycle.2
- Home, contextual and international applicants are ranked in separate pools, at shortlisting and after interview, with no fixed interview quotas.

- MMI: a 6-station circuit (typically 4 questions per station), plus two short tests - Numeracy and English. In person at the Preston Campus or online, December-April.2
- After interview, offers are decided on interview performance alone - you're ranked on 4 scores (station overall, global judgement, English and Numeracy tests), with offers to the highest-ranked until places fill.2

What UCAT score do you need for Medicine at UCLan?
In the 2025 cycle, the lowest UCAT score invited to interview (home applicants) was 1800 (converted from the old 4-section scale). You must sit the UCAT in your application year (home applicants only). There's no fixed cutoff - the threshold is set by each year's applicant pool. No SJT band leads to automatic rejection. What A-Levels do you need for UCLan Medicine?
You must be taking two sciences including Chemistry. Predicted grades are checked as a pass/fail gate for interview selection - they aren't scored. All A-Levels must be taken in one sitting.
