A-Levels
- You must be taking Biology or Chemistry plus one further subject from Biology, Chemistry, Maths or Physics - the third A-Level can be anything. Predicted or achieved grades must be at least AAA (AAB with an adjusted offer).1
- General Studies and Critical Thinking are not accepted.2
- Conditional offers must be met in full - no near misses.1
- An A-Level in your original language of instruction doesn't count - taking one means you need a fourth A-Level at grade A (B with contextual data).1
GCSE
UCAT
- There's no fixed UCAT cutoff - the threshold changes each year with the applicant pool.
- SJT Band 4 is auto-rejected - Bands 1, 2 and 3 all rank equally.2
Age
- You must be at least 17 at the start of the course; there's no upper age limit.1
Resits & reapplying
- Your qualifications must have been achieved within 10 years of the course start.2
- Resits are considered only if you dropped one grade in one subject (e.g. AAB) - one resit, predicted at least the required grade. Resit grades aren't capped.1
- Reapplicants are welcomed, as often as you like - but you must retake the UCAT each cycle.1
- You can't apply if you've previously studied any part of a medical degree - unless you can offer exceptional mitigation.1
- Entry is only into Year 1 - no transfers or advanced standing into later years.1
Selection & shortlisting
- All applicants who meet the minimum requirements are ranked and selected by their total UCAT score - no academic points, no composite score.2
- Home, international and contextual applicants are ranked in separate pools, each with its own threshold.2
- The personal statement and reference aren't used at any stage.1
- The 2026 Home threshold was 1990 (on the 2700-scale UCAT):3
- above 1990 with SJT band 1-3, or
- exactly 1990 with SJT band 1.
