How Bolton selects for interview

Selection & shortlisting

  • UCAT - your total on the three cognitive subtests, out of 2700.1
  • We can't assess your personal statement, so our rating reflects the UCAT alone.
  • The course is open to international applicants only - home applications are closed.1
  • The threshold depends on each year's applicants - as a brand-new school there are no past figures, and our estimate is that around 1710 gives a realistic chance of an interview.1
  • Shortlisting is holistic: your UCAT and personal statement decide who's invited to interview. No UCAT threshold, points rubric or weighting is published.1
  • Work experience is used during selection - Bolton expects you to have some before applying.1
Interview & offer

Interview & decision

  • Interviews are online MMIs lasting about an hour, assessing your values, behaviours, communication, problem-solving, motivation, teamwork and empathy.1
  • After interview, offers are decided on interview performance alone - offers are either conditional or unconditional.1
  • If your education wasn't taught in English, you need IELTS 7.0 with no component below 6.5 (or an accepted equivalent).3
  • International students must provide a letter of good conduct after interview.1

Conditional offer

  • Conditional offer: AAB - including Chemistry or Biology, and one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Maths.1
