A-Levels
- You must be taking Chemistry plus one of Biology, Physics or Maths and a third academic subject. Predicted grades aren't used - only your subjects are checked before results.1
- General Studies, Critical Thinking and Level-3 BTECs aren't accepted. Only one of Maths/Further Maths counts.1
- The AQA Baccalaureate, T-Levels, Cambridge Pre-U and other Level 3 equivalents have no fixed offer - they're assessed individually.1
GCSE
- At least grade 6/B in English Language, Maths, Biology and Chemistry (combined or triple science accepted for the two sciences).2
- You need nine GCSEs by the end of Year 11.2
- You need a minimum of 15 points from your best 9 GCSEs or equivalents: A*/A/7-9 = 2 points, B/6 = 1 point (max 2 per subject area; up to 4 for Dual Science, 6 for triple).2
- Mature students returning to education may only need 5 GCSEs at grade 6/B, including English Language, Maths and Science.1

- You must be 18 by 1 October of your entry year.1
Resits & reapplying
- A-Levels must be taken in one sitting after a 2-year course. Resits are accepted only if you got ABB first time - complete everything within three years with at least one A*, and expect an uplifted offer of A*AA.1
- If rejected in a previous UCAS cycle, you may make only one further consecutive application to the same programme.1
- If you've withdrawn from another medicine programme, you're considered only with extreme extenuating circumstances and evidence of academic progression.1
- Transfers aren't usually considered; applications from those in the second year of another degree are also unlikely.1
Selection & shortlisting

- The top UCAT scorers are then checked against the GCSE minimums, including the 15-point minimum from your best 9 GCSEs; higher GCSE scores only matter for borderline decisions.1
- Graduates are ranked in their own GAMSAT pool - you need 50 in every subcomponent to be ranked, and around 55-56 overall has been competitive.1
- The personal statement and reference aren't scored - references only support declared extenuating circumstances, and your statement may come up at interview.1
- The 2026 cut-offs were 1960 for Home and 2080 for International/EU applicants (new-format UCAT).1
- Home, international and graduate applicants are ranked in separate pools, each with its own threshold.

- Deferred entry is accepted for Home applicants, but not normally for international/EU students.1

- Conditional offer: AAA - or A*AB, where the A* and A cover Chemistry and your Biology/Physics/Maths subject and the B sits in the third subject.2
