On the day
Home and Irish applicants are interviewed on campus, in individual cubicles on a circuit in the Crypt of the Metropolitan Cathedral (Brownlow Hill entrance), not in the medical school. You register with ID, hand in your phone, watch a briefing video and get an explanatory sheet. International applicants get an equivalent online MMI; the admissions team decides who is eligible for online and home applicants should not expect it. In-person visits were about 2 hours in all for 2025 entry, with the MMI itself about 1 hour.
Your invite links to an 'additional interview information' document on the Applicant Booking System that names each station's theme in a few words; the 2026 list was teamwork and communication, two healthcare awareness stations, an ethics prep station feeding an ethics discussion, roles of a doctor, and social media and professionalism.
Each station theme is posted outside the cubicle and you read it during the one-minute changeover; there is no other prep time except the unmanned ethics preparation station, where you get paper and pen and can carry your notes into the discussion.
Manned stations put 2 or 3 set questions with about 2 minutes suggested per question, then probe; ethics is a back-and-forth. Interviewers can come across as deliberately neutral or cold.
No numeracy or role-play station in 2025 or 2026 entry, whatever older guides say. Your personal statement is not used to shortlist, but the experiences you wrote about are likely to come up.
You can make notes and keep them in the station.
1 min to move between stations.
Interviewers see only your name, not your application.
Overall interview scores are ranked and the top scorers get offers. Borderline decisions may bring in academic achievement, admissions test, interview score or contextual information. Decisions go out by the end of March. Candidates who email the admissions team afterwards have received a per-station score breakdown.
