On the day
Home (A100 and A199) applicants interview face to face at the George Davies Centre; international applicants interview online on Blackboard Collaborate. On campus the FOI gives seven stations of 8 minutes with one minute of reading each (the candidate page says about 10 minutes per station and about an hour in all); it is not stated whether the 8 minutes includes the reading minute. Online it is six stations of 1 minute reading plus 7 minutes, then a separate invigilated numeracy test.
One station is a short numeracy test (mostly mental arithmetic, no calculator, no medical knowledge) with its own pass mark; online candidates sit it separately after the six stations.
Two of the seven stations are unmanned, so you write your answers rather than talk to an interviewer; other stations may be split into a task then questions (read then answer, or watch a video then answer).
Marks can be deducted from your interview score for not following instructions (consent form, certificate uploads, bringing the screenshot).
Interviewer comments or issues on your UCAS form can lead to a second, panel-style interview, usually on an offer holders' day, before a decision is made.
You can make notes and keep them in the station.
Interviewers see only your name, not your application.
Ranked on total station score, and for most candidates the interview score alone decides the offer; a borderline group is reviewed on the whole UCAS form plus contextual flags, and interviewer comments or UCAS form issues can lead to a second, panel-style interview. Ties broken on all aspects of the application. Offers go out in batches from late January.
