On the day
Automated, recorded SAMMI interview with no live interviewer: each of the seven questions is a pre-recorded video of a university member reading it, with the text shown on screen, and you answer to camera. Done in one sitting within a 14-day window; the interview itself is about 50 minutes but the school says to allow an hour for the set-up checks, practice question and upload.
You answer seven pre-recorded video questions on your own, with no live interviewer or follow-ups; each question is read out on video and shown as text, you start speaking as soon as the text appears, and you get usually 4 minutes per answer with a 60 second break between.
Once you press start you must finish in one sitting (no pause, save or browser refresh, which ends the interview) within 14 days of your invitation; ask for any adjustments by email within seven days and before logging in, because there is no retake.
No notes, scripts, second devices or AI help; the school treats any of these as dishonesty. Use a laptop or desktop on Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Opera (not Safari, a phone or a tablet).
No station list is published, but the programme specification says the MMI assesses NHS values, the realities of healthcare work, your reasons for choosing medicine, skills and teamwork, and research and innovation in healthcare; expect to discuss your work experience and personal statement.
No notes allowed.
A 60 second break after every question, and 25 seconds before the first.
The school publishes nothing on how the recordings are scored or ranked. The programme specification says you must "achieve the score required" at the MMI, so an interview score requirement appears to exist, but its value and any ranking are not published; all offers carry DBS and occupational health conditions.
