On the day

UK applicants are asked to attend in person at Ninewells; international applicants get the option of a remote interview on Blackboard Collaborate, which 2026 interviewees describe as the same two-stage group discussion. Online requests from UK applicants are considered case by case.

Not an MMI: you sit with five other applicants and discuss one scenario for about 30 minutes while an assessor watches in silence, then the whole group moves rooms and a second assessor leads a discussion around the same bullet points.

The 1 hour 40 minute slot includes registration and a welcome; an optional tour and Q&A of about 30 minutes follows.

In-person interviews ran in January 2026 while international online groups continued into early March; invitations go to your email in phases (not via UCAS), and you are asked not to discuss the topics or tasks afterwards.

The scenario is meant to be thought-provoking without needing prior knowledge; the MMI was dropped because the school found it no longer predicted performance, and offers are now ranked on academic score plus interview.

How offers are made

Offers are ranked on a combination of academic score and interview performance, per the admissions lead's October 2025 video; the split is not published. One January 2026 interviewee reported being told on the day that only interview scores are ranked, which the video contradicts.
