On the day

Home applicants sit an MMI on campus, though the admissions policy allows a home interview to be run as a panel instead. International (fees) applicants get a two-selector panel interview on Microsoft Teams of about 20 to 25 minutes (the handbook says 25, the FAQ page says 20), assessed on the same criteria.

The first question is a two minute warm-up, "why do you want to be a doctor?", and it is not marked.

One of the seven stations is a role play. The rest are questions about you and your experiences, and no technical knowledge is examined.

Selectors do not see your personal statement or reference, so bring your experiences into the answers yourself.

One criterion is compatibility with the Newcastle MBBS, so know the programme, its teaching methods and ethos.
