4 stations on the day

Buckingham declined to tell us which stations it runs.

On the day

Done from home on Microsoft Teams; each station is a separate Teams call, either a conversation with an assessor or a role play with an actor. The school's standards state all MMAs and MMIs are conducted online.

Before the MMI there is a separate online Multiple Mini Assessment (MMA), a computer-based test; exceptionally strong MMA performers can get an offer without an MMI.

You can make notes in the one minute of reading time and refer to them while you talk, and you can ask the assessor to show the instruction slide again.

You must show photographic ID; missing documents or late arrival can cost up to the equivalent of one station's marks.

Use of AI during the MMA or MMI is not permitted and suspected use is investigated.

You can make notes and keep them in the station.

One or two minutes between station calls, not long enough to leave your desk.

How offers are made

Applicants are ranked by total MMI score and the rank is the principal factor in the offer decision; the offer threshold is confirmed annually by the Faculty Executive and others may be held on a waiting list until all interviews are complete. Academic results are not looked at again once the academic threshold is passed. After the MMI the outcome is an offer for medicine, a place on the pre-medicine course, or a rejection.
