Entry requirements

A-Levels

  • You must be taking Chemistry and Biology (or Human Biology), both at grade A. Predicted grades are used for eligibility only - the bar is the same for achieved grades.1
  • Your third A-Level can be any subject except General Studies, Critical Thinking, Thinking Skills and Global Perspectives.1

GCSE

  • You need at least grade 6 in GCSE English, Maths and double or triple Science.1
  • You need at least five GCSEs at grade 6 or above in total.1

UCAT

  • You must sit the UCAT in your application year (July-September) - there's no fixed cut-off.1
  • Your SJT band isn't used - no band causes rejection.

Age

  • You must be at least 18 by the start of the course (September).1

Resits & reapplying

  • Your latest qualification must have been taken within five academic years of your application.1
  • A-Levels must be completed in one sitting across a maximum of two years - extenuating circumstances (such as severe illness) may extend the window. Resits are permitted and grades aren't capped.1
How Hertfordshire selects for interview

Selection & shortlisting

  • Once you meet the entry requirements, your UCAT total is the entire ranking - the three cognitive subtests, out of 2700.
  • The threshold depends on each year's applicants - as a brand-new school there are no past figures, and our estimate is that around 1710 gives a realistic chance of an interview.1
  • You're ranked in a single list - the course is international-only, so there's no Home cohort.
  • The personal statement and academic reference aren't used in interview selection.
  • There's no contextual or widening-participation route - contextual data isn't used in interview selection.
Interview & offer

Interview & decision

  • The interview is a Multiple Mini Interview (MMI), held at an Interview Day.1
  • After interview, offers are decided on interview performance alone. Tied scores aren't separated - applicants on the same score are treated alike.
  • International applicants only - with plans to open to Home students in a later cycle.1
  • You need IELTS 7.0 with 7.0 in every component (or an accepted equivalent test, country exemption, professional registration or academic qualification).1
  • Work experience is required - research or work-based experience (in person or virtual) in a healthcare setting, which you'll discuss at interview.1

Conditional offer

  • Conditional offer: AAA - including Chemistry and Biology (or Human Biology) at grade A.1
