Entry requirements
A-Levels
Offer: AAA including Chemistry and Biology (or Human Biology) at grade A plus a third subject at grade A, completed in one sitting across a maximum of two years. Predicted grades are used for eligibility only (not ranking), and the bar is the same for achieved grades. [2]
The third A-Level can be any subject — including arts and humanities — excluding General Studies, Critical Thinking, Thinking Skills and Global Perspectives. [3]
Resits are permitted and not capped, but the three A-Levels must be completed in one sitting across a maximum of two years — extenuating circumstances (such as severe illness) may extend this. [2]
GCSE
UCAT
No fixed UCAT cut-off. Hertfordshire state they do not have a standard cut-off value; eligible applicants are ranked by UCAT score and a certain number are invited to an Interview Day. The threshold is expected to vary year on year. [10]
No SJT gate. The Situational Judgement Test component is not used in interview selection, so no SJT band causes rejection.
The UCAT must be taken in the summer prior to application (July–September). [11]
International Baccalaureate
Offer: 36 points with Higher Level 6 in Chemistry or Biology and Higher Level 5 in a second science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) or Mathematics. The same bar applies to predicted and achieved results. [4]
Scottish Highers
Scottish Highers: AAAAB or above including Biology, Chemistry and three other subjects — or Advanced Highers: AAB including Chemistry and Biology. [5]
Other qualifications
Access to Medicine Diploma: 39 credits at Distinction and six at Merit, with all Biology and Chemistry credits at Distinction. [6]
Cambridge Pre-U Diploma: D3D3D3 in Biology, Chemistry and one other subject. [7]
Graduates need a minimum 2:1 honours degree in any discipline, or an MSc, MPhil or PhD. [8]
Qualification policies
Your highest/latest qualification must be taken within five academic years prior to the time of application. [1]
Age
Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age by the start of the course (September). [12]
Application history
All applicants must satisfy Occupational Health and Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) screening (or equivalent police-record screening). [13]
