Entry requirements

A-Levels

Offer: A*AA with A* and A in Biology and Chemistry (A* in either) and A in a third subject — the same A*AA is the minimum entry standard you must have, or be predicted, to pass the eligibility check. All qualifications must be taken in the same sitting. [5]

General Studies and Critical Thinking are not accepted. [6]

Practical endorsement must be passed in all science subjects that form part of the offer (English exam boards). [7]

GCSE

Grade 6/B in GCSE English Language is the only GCSE requirement — no other GCSE results are taken into consideration. [14]

UCAT

SJT Band 3 minimum — Band 4 is discounted across all cohorts (Home, Contextual, Overseas). [15]

UCAT must be taken in the same year you apply to count. [16]

International Baccalaureate

Offer: 39 points with 7 and 6 in Biology and Chemistry at Higher Level (grades in either order). The eligibility check is the minimum entry standard — 38 points with HL 6 in Biology and 6 in Chemistry, achieved or predicted. Both IB Maths syllabi (AA and AI) are accepted. [8]

Scottish Highers

Offer (minimum entry standard): AAA in Scottish Advanced Highers, with A in Biology, A in Chemistry and A in a third subject. [9]

BTEC

BTEC National Diplomas are not accepted (nor are Applied General qualifications). [11]

Other qualifications

Access to HE Diplomas are not accepted, and Imperial has no Medicine foundation route — UCL UPCSE and Warwick IFP applications are not accepted either. [12]

The Welsh Baccalaureate is not accepted for entry to Medicine. [11]

Cambridge Pre-U offer (minimum entry standard): D2 and D3 in Biology and Chemistry (grades in either order) plus D3 in another subject. [13]

T Levels are not accepted for entry to Medicine. [11]

Irish Leaving Certificate

Offer (minimum entry standard): H1/H2 in Chemistry and Biology (grades in either order), plus H1 in two further subjects and H2 in two further subjects. [10]

Qualification policies

Resit qualifications are not accepted — if mitigating circumstances affected your exam results, Imperial directs you to your school or exam board. [4]

Age

Applicants must be 18 by the start of the course. [17]

Application history

Applicants who have previously started at or are already studying at another medical school are not accepted. [18]

Transfers from other Imperial courses are not accepted. [19]
