Entry requirements

A-Levels

  • You must be taking Chemistry and Biology or Human Biology. Achieved grades are treated the same as predicted.1
  • General Studies, Critical Thinking and Citizenship Studies are not accepted, and all A-Levels must be taken in one sitting.2

GCSE

  • You need at least grade 6 (B) in GCSE English Language, Maths and Science (Double or Triple Award).1
  • You need at least five GCSEs graded 6 (B) or above.1

UCAT

  • There's no fixed minimum UCAT total - the cut-off is calculated each year from the applicant pool and available places.1
  • You need at least 500 in every UCAT section.1
  • SJT Band 4 isn't auto-rejected - your band feeds the post-interview ranking instead.1
  • No extenuating circumstances are considered for UCAT scores.1

Resits & reapplying

  • Unless you're applying as a graduate, all qualifications except GCSEs must have been completed within the past five years, including the year you apply.1
  • A-Levels must be completed in one sitting across two years - resits needing a third year are allowed only via an approved Extenuating Circumstances application.1
  • GCSE resits are accepted. Adult Literacy and Numeracy or Functional Skills are not accepted in place of GCSEs.1
  • Reapplications in future cycles are welcome - but you can't apply twice in the same cycle (e.g. again in Clearing) if you were already interviewed.
  • If you started but didn't complete Medicine elsewhere, you're considered case-by-case - formal evidence of your withdrawal is required by 1 November of the application year.1

  • In 2026 the Home cut-off was 1880 - our estimate is you'd need around 1880 again next cycle.3
  • Home, overseas and graduate cohorts are ranked separately with separate caps, so each has its own UCAT cut-off.3
  • Graduates are ranked against the same UCAT cut as school leavers - in some years their bar has sat higher.3
  • Nothing else is scored - A-Levels, GCSEs, the personal statement and reference only need to meet the requirements.3

  • Eligible applicants are invited to a Multiple Mini Interview (MMI).1
  • After interview, applicants are ranked by combined MMI + SJT score - the highest performers in each cohort receive offers, with UCAT used only as a tie-break.1
  • Deferred entry is accepted.3

Conditional offer

  • Conditional offer: AAA - including Chemistry and Biology or Human Biology. Offers may range up to A*AA.1
