Entry requirements

GCSE

GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C / 4 or above. The Level 2 Essential Skills Application of Number is not an acceptable Maths equivalent. ^[4]

ROI applicants: Irish Leaving Certificate H6 or O4 in English Language and Maths. ^[5]

GAMSAT (UCAT not listed)

Ulster's MBBS course page specifies GAMSAT as the admissions test - UCAT is not listed. ^[6]

Minimum score of 50 in each section of GAMSAT, and applicants must also clear an annual competitive overall GAMSAT threshold to be interviewed. ^[7]

For August 2026 entry, GAMSAT sittings from March 2022 through September 2025 are accepted (eight sittings). ^[8]

Graduate-entry only

Ulster MBBS is graduate-entry only - school leavers cannot apply. ^[1]

Minimum 2:1 Honours degree in any discipline, or a Masters at 60%+ overall. ^[2]

Degree must be completed by end of June in year of entry, with results confirmed by mid-July. ^[3]

Previous medical study

Applicants who have previously studied (or are currently studying) at another UK, Irish or international medical school are generally not considered; an extenuating-circumstances exception applies if declared in the personal statement. ^[14]

If shortlisted, a letter from the previous medical school confirming academic and professional standing is required. ^[15]

Reapplications

No limit on the number of UCAS applications. Reapplicants not shortlisted are advised to resit GAMSAT as their score may not be competitive. ^[16]
