UCAT Cut Off Scores for All UK Medical Schools (2027 Entry)
Every UK medical school uses the UCAT differently, and most will not tell you the score you need. This table pulls together the lowest UCAT score that was invited to interview at each of the 44 schools, taken from their own admissions data, so you can see at a glance where your score is competitive for 2027 entry.
Sat the UCAT in 2026? Your total is out of 2700. Compare it against the column below, then use the university selector to check the full picture with your GCSEs and predicted grades. Looking for dentistry? See the dental school cut-offs.
Cut-offs by medical school (2027 entry)
Home applicants, 2700-point scale, sorted highest to lowest. “Cut-off” is the lowest UCAT total that got an interview in the cycle shown. Figures marked ~ are our estimate for 2027 entry. Figures marked * were converted from the old four-section scale. Click any school for the full entry requirements and sources.

How to read the table
The spread is wide: Imperial interviewed nobody below 2320, while Dundee went down to 1410. A cut-off is not a target - it is where the interview list stopped last year. Schools that rank on UCAT fill their interview places from the top down, so the cut-off moves every year with the applicant pool and a score just above it is a gamble. Schools that combine UCAT with GCSEs or A-Levels have no single UCAT threshold: a strong academic record can pull a lower UCAT through, which is why their figure is often much lower.
Schools listed as holistic or minimum only use the UCAT as one factor among several, or just as a floor. Your best chance with a modest score is usually there, or at a ranking school whose cut-off sits comfortably below you. The SJT column shows the one thing that can end an application outright: several schools reject Band 4 (or Bands 3 and 4) before they look at anything else.

Frequently asked questions
What UCAT score do I need to get into medicine?
There is no single answer, because every school sets its own threshold. Ranking schools such as Imperial, Bristol and UCL interviewed nobody below roughly 2200 last cycle, while schools that weight GCSEs or A-Levels alongside the UCAT, like Cardiff and Aberdeen, went as low as 1500 to 1700. The table on this page shows the figure for every school; a score of 2100 or more keeps most doors open, and below 1900 you should target schools that do not rank on the UCAT.
Are UCAT cut-offs the same every year?
No. At schools that rank applicants on UCAT, the cut-off is simply where the interview list stopped, so it rises and falls with each year's applicant pool. It is usually within 50 to 100 points of the previous year, but not always. Treat last year's figure as a guide to how competitive a school is, not as a guarantee.
Which medical schools have the lowest UCAT cut-off?
The lowest interview thresholds are at schools that combine the UCAT with academics or use it only as a minimum: Cardiff, Dundee, UEA, St Andrews, Nottingham, Sunderland and Aberdeen have all interviewed applicants in the 1400 to 1700 range. Keele and Leicester publish minimums of 1700 and 1680 but score other things heavily above that.
Which medical schools have the highest UCAT cut-off?
Imperial (2320), Bristol (2240), UCL (2190), Sheffield (2120) and Manchester (2060) had the highest Home cut-offs for 2026 entry. All five rank applicants mainly on UCAT total, so their thresholds move with the cohort each year.
Does a Band 4 in the Situational Judgement Test rule me out?
At around twenty medical schools, yes: Imperial, Manchester, Edinburgh, KCL, Lancaster, Liverpool (Home applicants), Anglia Ruskin, Edge Hill and others reject Band 4 before looking at anything else, and Manchester also rejects Band 3. Most of the rest either ignore the SJT or accept any band. The SJT column in the table shows each school's policy.
Do international applicants face the same cut-offs?
Usually not. Most schools run a separate ranking for international applicants, and the threshold can be higher (Manchester, UCL) or lower (City St George's, Bristol dentistry) than the Home figure. The table shows Home cut-offs; each school's own page lists the international figure where it is published.
